The objective of this webinar is to provide participants with a clearer understanding of the evolving landscape of Human Rights and Environmental Due Diligence, particularly the growing complexity created by the increasing number of regulations, standards, and digital tools. While these developments aim to strengthen responsible business conduct, they can also create fragmentation and practical challenges for companies seeking to implement due diligence across their operations and supply chains.

Identifying risks is a cornerstone of companies' sustainability due diligence processes. Many companies rely on digital tools to detect risks across their supply chains, but these risks are often presented as indicators or generic scores that may not fully convey their business impact. To effectively engage company representatives, especially at the board level, it is essential to translate these risks into financial terms.

Responsible sourcing and due diligence in mineral supply chains have increasingly become legal, societal, and market expectations. Within this evolving context, the DiliCHANCE project aims to support companies and other stakeholders in moving beyond a narrow compliance approach towards due diligence that delivers real environmental and social impact across mineral value chains.

The OECD Guidelines on Responsible Business Conduct and the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights require companies to conduct human rights and environmental due diligence. Many companies have turned to voluntary sustainability standards and related assurance schemes to support their due diligence efforts. However, many of these assurance schemes have been criticized for failing to deliver positive outcomes for (potentially) affected rightsholders.
