Responsible Jewellery Council Code of Practice

Jewellery sector standard defining "ethical, social, human rights and environmental practices" across the gold, silver, platinum group metals, diamond and coloured gemstone jewellery and watch supply chain.

What You Need to Know

The standard states that entities must "commit to, and implement, the UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights as appropriate to the purpose, nature, scale and impact of their business operations". With respect to responsible sourcing from conflict-affected and high-risk areas, the standard requires entitied to "exercise due diligence [...] in accordance with the OECD Due Diligence Guidance for Responsible Mineral Supply Chains from Conflict-Affected and High Risk Areas."
