The UN Guiding Principles on Business and Human Rights (UNGPs) apply to all states and business enterprises, regardless of size or sector. They do not create new international law obligations, but instead establish a global standard of expected conduct.
They rest on three pillars
I Protect - State duty to protect human rights.
II Respect - The corporate responsibility to respect human rights.
III Remedy - Access to remedy for victims of business-related abuses.
The UNGPs are a set of 31 principles, together, they form the “Protect, Respect and Remedy” framework.
