New IGF report warns of gender inequalities in the critical minerals transition

News May 13, 2026

A new IGF report warns that the growing demand for critical minerals such as lithium, cobalt, and nickel could deepen existing gender inequalities in mining-affected communities. Indigenous and rural women are particularly vulnerable to impacts on land rights, livelihoods, food security, health, and unpaid care work. One of the report's authors, Ege Tekinbas, will join our upcoming webinar to discuss how gender gaps can affect the effectiveness and impact of sustainability due diligence solutions. Links to both the report and the webinar registration can be found below.
