Women leading change in Peru’s mining sector

The REVALORO initiative by Solidaridad focuses on empowering women in Peru’s artisanal and small-scale mining sector by strengthening their leadership and collective voice. It helped establish the National Network of Women Miners, uniting hundreds of women to advocate for gender equality and safer, more responsible mining practices. Through this network, women have influenced national policies, including contributing to Peru’s first Gender Plan for the mining sector and shaping draft legislation. Overall, the project demonstrates how grassroots organization can transform marginalized groups into active policy influencers while promoting more inclusive and sustainable value chains.
