Treaty ne­go­ti­a­tions must put people and planet before corporate interests, ISHR says

At its 11th session, the International Service for Human Rights (ISHR) called on States negotiating the treaty on transnational corporations to clearly protect human rights defenders, affected communities and the environment. Stakeholders noted that limited time and participation during inter-sessional meetings restricted meaningful discussion on the revised draft. ISHR also warned that the text still lacks explicit recognition of the right to a clean and sustainable environment and stronger environmental due-diligence obligations. States are now invited to submit written comments on 13 proposals by 1 February 2026 before the next round of consultations.
