OECD report - Reliable supply chain data is the foundation for securing critical minerals

The OECD report Enhancing Resilience Through Traceability (September 2026) argues that traceability, built on reliable supply chain data, can strengthen due diligence and economic-security measures like price floors, stockpiling and procurement. Drawing on a survey of 90 companies covering lithium in Argentina and Chile and nickel in Indonesia and the Philippines, it finds uptake growing but uneven and fragmented, with cost, poor interoperability and ownership opacity as key barriers. It recommends a targeted, phased approach: near term, leverage existing trade data, supplier mapping and audits; medium term, close data gaps and strengthen beneficial-ownership transparency; long term, build interoperable cross-border platforms and digital product passports.
