Major companies implicated in widespread abuse of migrant workers, report finds

News February 19, 2025

A new report by the Business and Human Rights Resource Centre links 489 global brands including Meta, Uber, Deliveroo, Carrefour, and the Saudi Public Investment Fund to 665 cases of migrant worker abuse in 2024. The cases involve wage theft, unsafe working conditions, unfair recruitment practices, and at least 218 reported deaths, particularly in construction, hospitality, and the gig economy. The report highlights a widespread failure by companies to carry out effective human rights due diligence in high-risk sectors and migration routes.
