Human and labour rights under severe attack in Iran, says IndustriALL

News January 22, 2026

IndustriALL Global Union has condemned Iran’s escalating repression of peaceful protesters, highlighting the nationwide internet blackout used to hide serious human rights abuses. Despite widespread demonstrations driven by economic collapse, authorities have responded with military-grade force, mass arrests, and the imprisonment of people exercising their basic rights to protest and strike. IndustriALL warns that the blackout itself is a violation of freedom of expression and a deliberate attempt to silence workers, suppress documentation of abuses, and block international scrutiny. The organisation calls for the respect for ILO conventions, and urgent reforms to restore dignity and fundamental freedoms to the Iranian people.
