How EITI data can strengthen due diligence in mineral supply chains

Between late 2024 and October 2025, Levin Sources and the Extractive Industries Transparency Initiative (EITI) collaborated to explore how EITI data can strengthen mineral supply chain due diligence. Their research found that while the EITI Standard and Principles are widely referenced in responsible sourcing frameworks, such as those by the OECD and RMI, many industry actors rarely use EITI data due to limited awareness of its relevance. Yet, EITI country reports and validation scorecards offer valuable insights into payments to governments, beneficial ownership, and governance risks like corruption or illicit trade. To bridge this gap, EITI and Levin Sources launched two new resources: the EITI Due Diligence FAQ and the Guide to Using EITI Data for Due Diligence to help companies better integrate transparency data into their due diligence processes.
