EU Commission grants Conflict Minerals Recognition to RMAP

The Responsible Minerals Initiative’s “Responsible Minerals Assurance Process (RMAP)” scheme has become the first supply-chain due-diligence programme to receive formal recognition from the European Commission under the EU’s Conflict Minerals Regulation (CMR). This recognition affirms that RMAP’s standards for tin, tantalum, tungsten and gold align fully with both the CMR requirements and the Organisation for Economic Co‑operation and Development (OECD) Guidance on minerals from conflict-affected and high-risk areas. For EU importers of smelters and refiners, participation in a recognised scheme such as RMAP now offers a practical tool to help meet obligations around management systems, risk-assessment, third-party audits and disclosure.
