Dutch firms tied to mineral supply chains linked to human rights concerns, report finds

A new report warns that the rapid expansion of renewable energy is increasing demand for transition minerals such as lithium, nickel, bauxite, and manganese. Researchers found that mining linked to these minerals has contributed to environmental damage and human rights concerns in communities across Argentina, Indonesia, Brazil, and South Africa. The study also identifies connections between several Dutch companies and financial institutions and these global mineral supply chains. The authors are calling for stronger regulations and greater accountability to ensure a fair and sustainable energy transition.
