AI tools used to suppress human rights spark EU policy alarm

Artificial intelligence is increasingly being misused as a tool of repression, supporting authoritarian agendas and threatening fundamental human rights. As digital transformation accelerates globally, AI’s role in policy, economic, and social decision-making has revealed dangerous patterns of algorithmic control and bias. This analysis calls for the European Parliament to respond with strong international frameworks, partnerships, and regulatory measures to ensure that technological progress does not come at the cost of democracy and freedom.
