Due diligence tools have come a long way. The data is richer, the algorithms sharper, the coverage broader. Yet many of the people who rely on these tools day-to-day still struggle to turn what they see on screen into decisions they can act on.

This session flips the usual angle. Instead of asking what tools can do, we ask: what does it feel like to use them? We bring concepts from service design — a discipline built around mapping real user journeys, spotting friction, and designing for the moments that matter — and apply them directly to the due diligence space.

The workshop is also designed as a starting point for more in-depth support. A limited number of participating tool providers will be invited to a free one-day consultancy session, where we will work hands-on on their specific user experience and service design challenges.

Because the friction is real. A procurement officer opens a risk dashboard and sees a red flag — but no indication of whether it warrants a supplier conversation or an urgent escalation. A sustainability lead exports a report, only to find the underlying methodology buried three clicks deep and nearly impossible to explain to a sceptical colleague. A compliance team sets up alerts, then drowns in notifications that all look equally urgent. A new user spends weeks learning the tool before it becomes genuinely useful — and by then, the reporting deadline has passed.

These are not edge cases. They are the everyday experience of people trying to do the right thing with the tools they have been given.

Together with a group of tool providers, we will explore:

  • How end users navigate complex information under time pressure
  • Where tools create confidence — and where they quietly create doubt
  • What "good" looks like from the perspective of a procurement officer, a compliance team, or a sustainability lead who just needs a clear next step

What's in it for you?

Participants will leave with new frameworks and fresh eyes on their own product. In addition, a limited number of participating tool providers will be invited to a free one-day consultancy session to work through their specific user experience challenges in greater depth — hands-on and tailored to their tool.
